Longer than that here, I remember passing on that movie, and still haven't been to one since. I think it was the first LotR movie. (Didn't see the other two in theatre, if I remember correctly.)

I've actually never been. Don't really have a desire to. I just wait for it to come out on DVD. 1. It's cheaper, and 2. With all the garbage they put in movies these days, I want to be able to mute, fast forward, or just shut it off.

It's not ticket prices that keep me away. It's the sh!tty theatres. I mean they REALLY suck. Small. Cramped. Small screens. Pissy sound. Crappy, overpriced snack bar. Some sort of self-renewing super glue on every fooking square inch of the floor, including the carpet. Most are simply disgusting.
The last flick I saw on the giant screen was "Shrek 2" (in the original version, no overdubbing!). I prefer the privacy of my home theater, not only for the reason that it's way cheaper.

Sounds like a small town movie theater! Like those little towns that only have ONE movie theater...
No kidding... all the theaters around me are pretty nice. The one at the mall I go to was always clean, big with nice stadium seating, great sound and screen
Though I do remember how the old theater I went to as a kid was... sorta like Ken described and was the only one in town But for theaters that have renovated beyond the 80s, those I've been to have been quite good.
