Yeah, I don't get what you were just referencing either.
Anyway, those who make more money are ALREADY taxed more than those who make less money. The problem is that Obama wants to effectively punish the rich for being rich by taxing the living crap out of them, even though they buoy the economy. They are, after all, the ones with most of the money. When faced with the prospect of having the government take half their money, the rich tend to put it in places where it's not so easily taxed, and nothing good ever comes of that. If the rich stop investing because the capital gains tax is through the roof, for example, the economy will go down the tubes.
Biden = game show host? Dunno if he has the sense of humor for that.

My kitteh, Muzby, would like your vote for president. He's cute, cuddly, and would pass a law requiring everyone take at least four naps per day. He would increase everyone's access to ice cream in the hopes that you would let him lick some off your spoon. He will also guard your shoes and will make sure you never oversleep on weekends. He doesn't have a running mate because the only other cat he knows is his sister and she doesn't give a rat's ass about this.soloist wrote:Laughs! Nothing of that nature, but

May I also Add...RONALD REAGAN was also a Governor before becoming President. He Too (Along with Bill Clinton) had NO Foreign Policy experience either.

Re: Is Sarah Palin fit to be Vice President of the United States
Probably Palin is afraid that now Russia is powerful and wealthy, Putin might offer to buy Alaska back...and Washhington gladly says "yes" to catch up with the enormous debts which were built up in the recent years. In the second part of the CBS interview with Palin, which will air tonight on the "CBS Evening News," Couric, to her enormous credit, asks Palin to explain what this talking point means.
COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land -- boundary that we have with -- Canada. [...]
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia --
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We -- we do -- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is -- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to -- to our state.
In Germany, the "rich" are officially being taxed with up to 42% of their income but effectively paying an average of only 22% thanks to a number of write-offs only available to this group. The initial tax is 15%, so the wealthy are not too far away from what Joe Average whith his average income (and comparatively nil possibilities of writing off) far, far, far away from what a Joe Ackermann (CEO of the Deutsche Bank, one of the biggest money hoarders and burners to the disadvantage of the average tax payer) has to pay.Frong wrote:Anyway, those who make more money are ALREADY taxed more than those who make less money. So the question rather is...let them keep on hoarding and burning money (one of the main reasons why economies are currently getting into a tailspin) or making sure that the currency is circulating, even if that means that some of the rich has to pay more taxes which might be spent for better school equipment, more police, better roads and stuff - from which the rich are also participating?

Muzby gets my vote. I don't really like either candidate that is running so I'm at a quandry.

Re: Is Sarah Palin fit to be Vice President of the United States
So it sounds like the rich in Germany basically screw the system out of getting half the tax money they're supposed to be paying.
I know there are loopholes in the system here, but the rich still generally end up paying a lot more in taxes than the rest of the country does. There aren't THAT many loopholes, and not everyone is dishonest enough to spend all their time trying to find them.
I dunno, man... putting a kittah in charge of the government could cause some problems. We'd all be subject to scratching with representation, unless Congress can block the proposal.

Germany is not the only place where people
take advantage of loop-holes in the sys-
tem, but what I meant in terms of t-
he rich paying more is that gener-
ally, there are more tax-breaks
available in the upper echelo-

ke certain to use them.

the act of marking territory
frightens me if it were legal!!

Make all the laws you want. Cats do whatever they want, when they want. You better invest in a lot of band-aids.Frong wrote: I dunno, man... putting a kittah in charge of the government could cause some problems. Re: Is Sarah Palin fit to be Vice President of the United States
I didn't get to watch the VP debate because I was in the middle of nowhere for four days, but I'll throw in my two cents anyway. From the little I've seen of Palin, I'm not crazy about her, but it's not going to affect who gets my vote for president. Somehow I doubt with McCain as president that she would have as big a role as Dick Cheney; McCain's not a pushover.
That said, I do wish she'd stop saying weird things. The bit with Russia and Alaska does kinda grate on my nerves.
