I haven't gotten into fantasy sports in literally years (outside a tournament pick 'em I won over at Nolan's league) So I'm bringing my Crystal Dragons out of retirement and seek to capture the crown of dead last.... as I've always sucked at Fantasy Hockey, but it's still fun

I've never played, but I'm going to guess that I suck too.
You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is, "never try."

Or ya could have beginners luck and get a kickarse team right out the draft! It's not hard though... it's really just a game of stat tracking for the most part... and having those players posting up the big numbers on your squad and active for each days games.

Yeah, the extent of what I do is keep track of guys' stats over the last few weeks at a time. I don't have a feel for "trends" and whatnot, and in such a small league, it's always possible to just replace a marginal player with one who's just sitting in the free agent pool. That's how I do well - work the free agent market. This is evidenced by the fact that I always make by far the most roster transactions in the league every year. Now, if this were a large league where the only players not drafted were the statistical dregs, THEN I'd probably have to try and learn to read player trends and make trades instead of just swapping free agents in and out. THAT'S where fantasy sports get really time-consuming. :p

Good news! We scored a total of 8 teams this year. New record! :)

With the league officially starting Saturday, I've set the draft to ready. Sometime in the next few hours if Yahoo's quick you should be able to see your team. (And for most of you I'm going to guess that will be some time tomorrow when you're awake.)

The draft has completed! Here's the first few rounds for your reading pleasure. Pop on over to the league to see your full roster, prep it for the upcoming games, and make any changes you'd like.

As an aside, I'm unstickying this, and in the next few days will relocate it to the sports forum. Just leaving it here long enough for everyone to know that's happening.

And now in a shocker, I took over top spot! :dgrin: Likely not to last, but at least I can say I hit the top once after past years of complete fantasy hockey failure

And after a rather abysmal start, and an even more worrisome draft, I'm sitting in third.

Me thinks that it's time for the return of Mr. Announcer and Mr. Colour Commentator. :p
