The funny thing: on Monday, gas prices were as low as $5.40/gallon which is marking the lowest price since 2005 (took me 25 minutes to fill the tank - 20 minutes waiting and 5 minutes filling). 24 hours later, prices went up to $5.52 again - although the prices for crude oil on the stock markets were falling.

No crisis could be big enough as there are some wanktards trying to beat the maximum profit out of it. :rant3:

I think that's part of it, and the other part of it is simple supply and demand. If people are buying, the sellers will naturally try and gouge them for more money. :o

Like I had said...there's plenty of oil, and even the demand has been reduced over the last months.

Another funny thing, at least in Germany: back in the times when we had the Deutschmark, I'm almost sure that many gas stations and oil company buildings would've been torched down if the prices had been raised about €0.06 (DM0.12; $0.08) overnight. That was unheard of, and many leaseholders of gas stations had virtually feared for their lives if the companies had raised prices about DM0.04 (€0.02). Usually a raise was in the area of 1 or 2 Pfennige.
But today, German motorists even accept if raises of the übergreedy kind repeated again and again... :noclue:

I don't think that's due to the change from Mark to Euro, so much as it's a global change that's come from getting used to the prices spiking constantly. Everyone's just kind of gotten used to the fact that gas prices are retarded. :|
