For me it's always actual gifts rather than gift cards, etc.

Actual gifts... gift cards are kinda impersonal and ok if ya have a big list and don't have the time to put into actual gifts... or good as an addition to gifts (I get at least one Best Buy gift card a year and love it) , but in my case, my list is short, so I do gifts

I haven't yet had to resort to giving a gift card so far as I can recall. Always just give "real gifts" (although the term kind of sheds negative light on those who don't eh? .
