CHUCK E. CHEESE, MESSED UP BY VIOLENCE...

Post by soloist »

Remember when you were a kid, and going to Chuck E. Cheese. Play some Pole Position, a little skeet ball. Back then, it was something Atari founder Nolan Bushnell could be proud of. Now?

Now, now it's not. According to PennLive.com, the amount of violence (among adults!) at Chuck E. Cheese continues to be high. For example, there were 13 arrests for disorderly conduct at the Susquehanna Township restaurant alone. The year before, police had to respond to incidents 18 times at the same restaurant.

Susquehanna Twp. Police Chief Robert A. Martin explains that the reason for these incidents is often people with ongoing disputes bump into each other at Chuck E. Cheese. "They see each other at Chuck E. Cheese, and before you know it an argument turns into something physical," says Martin. "It's madness, absolute madness."

We think there's too much Chuck in that Cheese.

Perhaps it's divorced parents at a kid's birthday party, Martin added. Last spring, a man slapped his estranged wife in the head at their child's party.

It's not just this one Chuck E. Cheeses that is going bonkers, but other franchises as well. Other incidents include a man yelling that he had hepatitis C as he ran around the restaurant spitting or 17 year-old girl that was dragged by her hair in the parking lot.

According to Chuck E. Cheese, all the restaurants have security cameras to protect customers, restaurants employees and the poor schmo who dresses as the chain's mascot.

First Atari turns to crap, and now Chuck E. Cheese goes apeshit? Nolan Bushnell is truly King Midas in reverse.

At the Chuck E, Cheese near where I used to live, the guy that used to work there, maintaining the games and animatronics, he was arrested for molesting his 4 year old son, and while the father was in jail, the mother burned the house down (killing both the boy and his infant sister). Awful stuff.

I don't think it had anything to do with Chuck E. Cheese though really. lol

Although that mouse does creep me out alot

I was very really a fan of the Chuck E. Cheese mouse design
myself (laughs). I've only been to one of this franchise-
s location once when in Philly for a nephew of my
g/f's and the atmosphere was pleasant with
both adults and children enjoying them-
selves, though some hogged specif-
ic machines. I would have wan-
ted to stay longer, but the
next group of people c-
ame. Still though,
two hours wa-
s enough
time.

R-
egar-
ding the
negativity t-
hat has been as-
sociated with Chuck
E. Cheese, tis a shame t-
hat some would bring their n-
egavity to such a place, especiall-
y with children present. The atmosph-
ere when I visited was friendly and inviti-
ng, plus the freedom to play any game for fr-
ee was great (not to mention all of the pizza tha-
t was served). I played quite a few pinball games for
retro's sake. My g/f beat me in head-to-head Ms. Pac M-
an, but I really was not into it since I never was good at the
Pac Man series outside of the Atari 2600 version (in which I ex-
ploited a bug that I found in the game and turned the game aroun-
d... laughs), but I would not consider myself a Pac Man player though.

Drat. I always liked their pizza. When my nieces and nephew were little, my siblings always had their parties at Chuckie's (as we always called it, for we are lazy Maryland speakers.) The one we went to had an awesome Jurassic Park shooting game.

I used to like that game back then too,
but sadly, I never really played it m-
uch when it was available at a lo-
cal arcade before it closed. It
was tough getting someon-
e else to play as a secon-
d player. I used to pla-
y a lot of Time Crisi-
s, but that was th-
e only gun game
that I really g-
ot into in th-
ose years.
I watch-
