What a crazy hockey game last night...

Ok, so I was too tired to post this last night, but I had just got back from a local Junior AAA game, and it was a weird one. In the first period, the ref called a triple minor penalty (which I'd never seen before) of 2 for boarding and 4 for butt-ending on the same guy (which we would score twice on, taking a 2-1 lead at the time, and the middle 2 of those 6 minutes 4v4 on a slashing call).

It was less than tame for most of the game (the fans the entire time razzing the hell out of the opposing goaltender, and apparently getting to him enough to get reactions like the "I can't hear you" pose) but it came to a boil with 0:26 to go in the 3rd. A big fight broke out, and in one particular pairing of combatants, the away guy knocked our player down pretty much right away. Of course the linesman went to haul him off our guy, but he wanted to keep swinging. So the linesman tries to force him back off our guy and haul him to his feet, and the away guy spins around and starts wrestling the linesman to the ice, even takes a couple swings. Once the linesman's down, he tries to find our guy again. But the linesman was up quick, and grabbed him again, which only resulted in him spinning and attacking the official a second time. Eventually, with the other fights on the ice broken up more cleanly, the second linesman was able to help get the ass off the ice, where three security guys escorted him down the tunnel. That dude has most likely ended his career I'm thinking. Not cool.

Then for kickers an angry fan (well, all the fans were angry at that point, despite our 6-2 victory) chucked something at the away players leaving the ice after the game, which I guess pissed off one of the away team fans and a fight broke out right in front of us. I ended up aggravating my arm a bit trying to keep out of those asses' way while a few more security guys broke that up and escorted their asses out the tunnel.

And that's only game 2 of a best-of-7. Things are going to be a bit crazy in game 3 I bet. -_- The rest of the games are all away though.

The dude went so completely apeshite that he attacked the officials TWICE? I think he needs to have his brain examined for massive stupidity buildup.

Yeah, he gonna be in some trouble me thinks. I haven't heard exactly WHAT he will get as a punishment, but it'll be somethin' alright. This is, after all, the league that said that during these playoffs any fighting will result in an automatic ejection from the game. I can't imagine that they'll be too nice to someone stupid enough to drop the gloves and then beat on the Linesman.

The AJHL Disciplinary Reports page still shows nada. No news articles on Google yet either. Probably gonna think long and hard about this.

Attacking an official? I sense criminal charges heading his way.

Yeah, I gotta think Wario's right on this one. They'll probably press assault charges on the numbnuts for this, and be justified in doing so. There's no other way of describing it. The officials aren't a legitimate target of aggression, so fighting with them is like fighting with some random person in the stands - that's plain old assault and battery.

That much will be up to that linesman though, not the league.

True, though he could probably press charges and have a good chance of winning. The fact that the dude tried to attack him twice is the kicker, IMO. Baaaaaka.
