Hole in your street

OK, this is just freaky. Look at this picture from a news article I just saw about a massive sinkhole that formed right smack in the middle of Guatemala City as a result of huge rains from tropical storm Agatha. It looks like somebody fired an orbital laser weapon and cleanly vaporized a section of the street.

That pic was unvelievable!!! I wonder what they will to do with that area now.

I think I read that they're not entirely sure what in the heck to do with it. The article said how they can't just fill it in with dirt and gravel or whatever, because it'll just sink again, maybe even as they're filling it. The problem is that nobody's entirely sure what causes these gigantic funky sinkholes, so it's kinda hard to know how to fix them.
