It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Well, preferably, it would nice to have 6 or more teams, but we'll see...

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
In ze meantime, Roem needs to hurry up and opine on FOW, and for that matter, so do j00, 5p00n3j. I wanna set my rankings already.

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
OK, so there's the consensus. Your call, Nakor. Once the stat selection is finalized, I can finally go and blow some time agonizing over how to rank players that I probably won't have the luck to be able to draft.
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
I guess I'll add it in then. Could really do with at least a couple extra members though. While I'm at it removing W as a stat too, but we're keeping SHO right?

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Actually, I disagree with the FOW, mostly based on the fact that the recorded FOW is based heavily upon opinion. Kind of like what qualifies as a shot on net always seems to be slanted in favour of the home team...

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
So... I'll remove it again then? We seem to have 1 assent, 1 dissent, 1 swiss neutral, and I'm a little more biased against.
But if we all keep being indecisive I might add FOL as a stat. >.>

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
You can't argue that FOW is any more of an opinion stat than hits or blocks. How do you determine how hard you have to hit somebody before it counts as a hit? How do you determine if a player registered a block unless you first make the highly subjective decision that the shooter officially registered a shot, especially since the dumb thing got blocked and didn't even get on net? Those are both heavily dependent upon the refs' opinions, but I still like the stats regardless. Same thing goes for FOW.
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Oh I'm not saying that those stats AREN'T stupidly biased and opinion oriented. That's precisely my point though. Do you really want to win or lose based upon an entirely subjective stat?
Is there no other stats that we can use that are a little more solid and factual based?

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Doesn't look like it. I mean really, all the other stats that aren't included already which are purely concrete are either kind of repetitive (GAA, PPG, PPA, SHG, SHA), flukey (GWG), or stupid (PIM, SOG, SH%). Not much point in adding those.
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
I think keeping hits and blocks is good -- especially for D -- but FOW isn't just a judged stat, it's also one that certain players will have tonnes of, and certain players will have none of. Whoever gets the wingers that take faceoffs regularly wins the category... it wouldn't necessarily go to the team with the best face-off men. That's my take on it anyway.

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Eh, whatever. I'll just go with the original stat lineup you picked. I'd rather set my predraft rankings already than keep arguing over it endlessly.
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
I just noticed something when looking at the league page - Wins aren't shown in the rankings as a goalie stat. Did you mean to remove them or was that an accident?
Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
We discussed that back on page one, remember? >.> They disappeared due to being more of a team stat than a goalie stat. In fact, it was more your idea than mine. :P

Re: It's that time again: Roundtable Hockey League '010!
Wat? Yeah, I said that they were a team stat, but I was never arguing that they should be removed. Having only two goalie stats seems very odd to me, like the goalies hardly matter.
