TECMO BOWL IS STILL RELEVANT (SPORTS)...

Post by soloist »

Proving the eternal relevance of Tecmo Bowl, here's a recap of yesterday evening's No. 1 American Football highlight, the electrifying run by Marshawn Lynch to seal Seattle's senses-shattering 41-36 playoff victory over New Orleans.

The game was the first time a losing team divisional champion had ever appeared in the playoffs, much less ended the defending Super Bowl champions' season. Not that I want to say I called the ball but ...

This definitely wins an internet or two from me. I remember playing Tecmo Bowl with my friend in his basement back in elementary school. Ah, the nostalgia.

Laughs! Same here... well, not playing in the basement,
but playing Tecmo Bowl in general. T'was the only
period of my life so far that I enjoyed playi-
ng a football game THAT much (thoug-
h I did like NFL Blitz for a short pe-
riod). If memory serves me co-
rrectly, Marshall Faulk and
the 49ers were the on-
es to hate if you p-
layed against t-
hem on tha-
t game.

I don't remember who I played as most of the time, but I do remember using one particular play action play, in which one of my receivers ran a go route down the sideline. For some reason, it seemed to connect an unusually large percentage of the time, which is why I kind of abused it. :p

You and me both... well, until the opposing player
would get used to the play-calling and would s-
elect the appropriate defensive play to co-
unteract it which resulted in an all-out
blitz (which cannot be avoided). I c-
ouldn't stand the limited number
of plays in the original, but in
later iterations, the amou-
nt of plays available inc-
reased to lessen the l-
ikelyhood that the
blitz would work
unless the pla-
y-calling wa-
s THAT pr-
edictab-
le (lau-
ghs).
