So, this looks to be the only good anime this season. At first it looks like typical magical girl moe shizam, but if you stick with it, you'll see that it's much more.... there's about a 10 second creepy moe sequence in the OP, but aside from that it's good, and definitely not what it appears to be at first.
Stick with it through episode 3 to see what I mean.
If you don't, kyubey will stare into your soul. ◕‿‿◕
Oh hai. I actually thought about checking it out on the off chance it was good, but then I didn't. And you can't say it's the only good one when there's Zombie lulz to be had.
Maybe I'll check it out. Not this week though; two midterms, an essay and two homework assignments to deal with... blarg.
What's weird about this show is that it's basically like watching the cast of Hidamari Sketch in a magical girl show, or at least that's what one of the guys in my anime club has told me. Same character designer, some of the same voice actors... The music is by Kajiura Yuki, though, which is awesome. Can never have too much awesome .hack//sign-style music.
uh.... okay, just watched episode 6.... what the hell.... so basically

In exchange for one wish, kyubei rips your soul out of your body and employs you as soldiers to hunt his food, and if I had to guess, every time he eats a witch he just adds its power to his own, meaning he's basically one giant blood sucking tick spawn of satan
also, heard speculation that Homura''s wish was for

time travel. It's also more sophisticated than your typical time travel schtick: she can basically phase in and out of time periods, hence why she always seems to show up at the right place at the right time, why she seems to know about everyone despite them having no recollection of her, and why she seems to have teleportation skills in episode 6. Also would explain how she's seen so much death.
Further speculation is that Homura is future Madoka.
