Pfft... Macs. :o Silly Bel, paying extra money for shinies and less performance. :p

Anyway, having a functional computer is nice. My sister was lucky that she could use my netbook temporarily when her old laptop crapped out on her a while ago. Otherwise, she'd have been completely computerless until she got her new one.

Glad to hear you're fully internet-enabled Bel!

Macs and PCs are basically on par at this point except for those price tags, but I do feel jealous of the battery life that most mac laptops possess.

The price tag makes all the difference, though. If you bought a Mac, you either paid the same amount for less performance or got the same performance but paid more. :p Plus Macs have a great deal of unnecessary shinies in the OS that just get in the way, such as those stupid graphical effects that occur whenever you maximize or minimize windows, as well as other assorted crap that I hate. See: having all that garbage on the dock at the bottom instead of a consolidated start menu, how the system whines at you if you unplug any devices without ejecting them first, etc.

</rant>

But anyway, it is nice that you have proper full-time internet access again.

Ah yes the endless battle between Apple and WIndows. Ah well..I need this, I am a designer and there's nothing, I do repeat, NOTHING better than an iMac i7. The i7 is the fastest thing I have ever layed my hands on..o_0 It's BJOOOTIFOOLL, and lovely..:)

I do agree with the annoying shortcuts at the bottom, most are useles, some I use on a daily basis. But oh well..I do pay for looks...:) and I am sooo biased as far as Apple's concerned. :)

Watching youtube with my children is soo easy now..etc etc..Lovely. :PBy the way, this is not a laptop, I fgot the new Mac Air book, it sucked! TINY, I don't like tiny, phones need to be big, and screens and computers need to be big. :P So I exchanged it for an iMac. :) http://www.apple.com/imac/ <---- This one!

And oh my...on wednesday my new car is coming. Yes..a minivan type thing. HAHhahaah! It had to be done. :)

That sucks Sooolooooistoo..But I'll sing a few songs for oyu, that way you'll be glad there's no sound on your laptop!

Yes, when it comes to computers, tiny is only acceptable when it comes to transistors, load times, and maybe the box itself (depending upon whether it has an optical drive in it or not). I want my screens, keyboards, and other peripherals to be nice and large, so I can freakin' see and use them properly.

I still don't know why so many people claim that Macs are better for graphic design, though. As long as the program functions and you have the processing power to make it run at optimal levels, what difference should it make what system you're running it on? Personally, the annoyance of having to get used to the Mac quirks would easily outweigh any potential benefits from using one. :\

My iPod needs a new battery. I am really surprised at how long it lasted.

That's another thing I hate, not that Apple is the only one guilty of this: non-user-replaceable mp3 player batteries. Rather than go the honest route and just let us replace the battery ourselves, they force us to either get a new unit entirely, pay someone to replace the battery for us, or get a replacement plan that lets us exchange the unit when the battery starts to go on us. Wankers. :o

Magic mouse, magic trackpad and magic keyoard work with ordinary batteries. Plus..Preeeeetttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Macs ARE better for graphic design dude. o_0 they are! They were teh first to make a computer where you even could do stuff on. And um, the programs are just really intuitive. So is the hardware..but i am super biased :)

Hhahaha! Wankers? HAhahahahaaah! tha tis soo hilariou to read here..after all these years with my silly brother..I now read wankers here...

"Gone" insane? You weren't already insane from hanging around here for years? :p

I don't really care much whether Apple made the first viable graphic design computers, since it only matters what they make right now. Nor do I care about whether the programs on them are any good or not, since you can make the exact same program run on different operating systems. I only care about the machine itself, and I don't see where a Mac is going to be physically any more capable of running graphic design tasks than a PC. It's all ultimately just 1s and 0s anyway. :\

It was a truth as recent as a few years ago, actually. If you wanted to go far in graphics design, you needed a Mac. The equivalent Windows programs were, so to speak, not equivalent. That's mostly changed now, and Windows is pretty much on par, however. (Linux is still suffering in this particular category. Though Linux has many excellent equivalents in other areas, as far as video editing goes it's a near-complete void, although tools for editing audio, rewriting video to other formats and such are plentiful, making it sufficient for, say, subtitling.)

Ya it was very recent th ewhole mac/windows thing. And well, like I said..I am biased..because well..I am a graphic designer...en what do you need then? Well..no windows. :)
I am happy, I think that means you all are too. RIGHT? I have to admit, there is a lot of useless crap on here, but it is sooooo pretty!

Yeaterday I got the news my youngest son needs glasses. At 3. Glasses...I hate it! He has a cilinder in one eye, and if you don't correct it the eye won't develope properly along with the other one. :( So..until he's 10 or 12 ...glasses...on his pretty little face. That has NOTHING to do with macs or other os..but it had to be said. Plus, I am not insane, I adjust to the situation I'm in!!!! :)

Hm... I get the feeling from this discussion that the reason Macs were considered better for graphic design actually had nothing to do with the computers themselves. It was because the programmers were better who wrote the Mac graphic design programs. That edge was bound to disappear sooner or later, though, which it seems it finally did within the last few years. I've always been a Windows person, so this whole matter never made any sense to me. Anyway, Windows 7 is a nice, streamlined OS that runs fast, barely ever crashes, and is pretty user-friendly overall. I don't get the impression that a Mac can do anything anymore that a Win7 PC with equivalent specs can't.

LOL "I am happy, therefore you are also happy." Fair enough, Queen Bel of Shopping and Other Stuff. :p

Glasses at only 3 years old? Never heard of anyone that young needing 'em before. There are a couple kids in the kindergarten class I'm student teaching right now that have glasses, but they're at least 5 or 6. I hope they do what they're supposed to do and fix his eye problem. Your vision is way too important not to be handled with serious care. :\
