Don't buy HP computers

Post by bdunn420 »

Ever since I got my HP, July 2000, I have had nothing but problems with it. Within a few days of getting it, it would not recognize CD's. Then it wouldn't shutdown completely. I had to send it back to HP. After a few weeks, I got it back and it worked, or so I thought. About a year later, it was doing the same thing. It would read CD's, but not DVD's. Also, it wouldn't shutdown completely. I took it into a computer store, and they said it was the video card. So they replaced it, and I was still having problems. Then I tried Windows XP. It did not fix my problem, but it did make my computer run more stable and faster. This past week, I've just about had it and decided to call another store. I was thinking it was the power supply, and they agreed. They took out the old 175 watt power unit, and replaced it with a 300 watt unit. After I picked up the computer, I asked them about my DVD. They said its dead. Probably dude to the power supply. The computer guys then said that they didn't even see how the power unit ran my comp in the first place. They had no is dead why HP would do such a thing. After getting the computer home, and plugged in. I decided to test it out and see if it would shutdown and restart. Is the problem fixed? NO! After sitting down and thinking what the poblem is, I decided it may be the motherboard. Afterall, the old power supply ruined my DVD drive, so it must have did something to the motherboard as well. What do you think? Could it be the motherboard? After having so many troubles with my PC, and attacks on it that occur occassionaly while I'm playing a multiplayer game, I have decided that the next time I get a computer, maybe I should buy an Apple.

It could be the motherboard. I have no idea what a bad power supply can do to a pc though. <

>Personally I will never get a pre-installed pc again. Just about everybody I know has had troubles with it. I always buy the parts and construct the pc myself.

I think I won't be able to post here within the next few days. PC is going back to repair place and possibly have the motherboard replaced.
