What was your favorite vacation spot when you were a kid?
Was it by the lake? Summertime at Grandma's? Skiing? Visiting a relative?
Camping? Going out of state? Overseas? A tree house?
Did you have any favorite vacation spots? Also, which ones did you dream of visiting one day?

When we were kids we'd go four places, camping at Seneca Lake in eastern Ohio; Norfolk, Virginia; Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio (Lake Erie); Sea World (when it was in Aurora, Ohio)
Always wanted to go to Las Vegas, also drive up Pacific Coast Highway 1 (California); Seattle, Washington and the surrounding areas; Hawaii and Alaska. I don't know if I'll ever get there, but at least I have the internet to allow me to look at pictures of the places.
As for international travel, I've always wanted to go to Venice, Italy and see Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, go to some places in England, Japan, Russia and Thailand. Seriously doubt I'll ever get to any of these places, but a girl can dream, can't she?

.I spent a good chunk of my childhood in Alaska. There was this river out by Wasilla that I used to swim in.

BUT! The most memorable one was when we visited here:

Need a hint?
It's the 105th Highest Mountain in the world

My favorite vacation spot growing up was Weirs Beach in Laconia, New Hampshire. My parents brought me there year after year, and now I bring my daughter there too

Well, as a kid, my family took yearly trips to the mountains...specifically to Maggie Valley NC, home to Ghost Town in the Sky, but unfortunately has been closed in the last couple of years.
Ghost Town was on a mountain, you had to ride a ski lift or tram to get to it...the entire thing was made up to look like an old western town, with staged gun fights in the street on the hour, and a saloon with can-can dancers amongst other things.
Although it was very popular I have a feeling that the newer "Tweetsie Railroad" park has taken over most of the attraction in the area, which is why it's been shut down.
Tweetsie Railroad is the same basic idea, only with more rides & a genuine steam train that you ride on and watch cowboy and indian fights on either side.
But parks aside, that part of the country is very beautiful, with lots of wonderful private owned businesses and restaurants...and a LOT of heritage. (Such as Cherokee indian heritage)
But as I got older and we moved to Georgia, I grew very fond of Callaway Gardens and the Callaway Memorial Chapel that it had there.

(Not my picture)
These pics don't exactly do the chapel justice, there's a bridge/walkway in front going over a stream, and it's heavenly looking in the spring...I always wanted to get married there, but alas it didn't happen that way...maybe I'll have a formal late ceremony there when I get a chance.
Pics from the actual gardens:

There are all kinds of nature trails and bike trails and a few other attractions such as the butterfly center/habitat...where you walk into a special made butterfly habitat...filled with butterflies and certain exotic birds.
eh...I'll shut up now.
