Yuwie

Post by BlueMolly2006 »

I just got a PM at Myspace from a friend of mine telling me about this site. It's a social networking site like Myspace and Facebook, but it promises to pay you for each hit you get. Just go to this link to sign up as my referral.

I am a Yuwie member, but to be honest, I am a little skeptical. A site that offers to pay you simply when people view your page? Something there doesn't sound right ...

From the Yuwie terms of service:
2. Payment Eligibility. In order to receive any payment from the Yuwie.com System, the member must meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid social security number (SSN), taxpayer identification number (TIN), or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN)
- be at least 14 years old, and
- fill out an IRS form W9
OR
- fill out a non-US activities declaration form

8. Fees. Yuwie.com is currently free of charge, but you acknowledge that Yuwie.com reserves the right to charge for the Yuwie Services and to change its fees from time to time in its discretion. If Yuwie.com terminates your Membership because you have breached the Agreement, you shall not be entitled to the refund of any unused portion of subscription fees.
Hidden fees! They always getcha.

I will try and continue to use yuwie to see what will occur, but the moment I get any messages from some administrative figure thre asking for my SIN number, I'm deleting my account there

That's the instant kill off for me... there's no way in hell I'd ever give my SSN to a social networking site  :p Or ANY site for that matter! I can see how the payoff could work if they have good advertising revenues and their breaking off a piece of that to you, but they don't need all that info to do it... :p

Yeah, I would NEVER give my SSN number over the net. That's a red flag that people should be aware of.
I think I'll stick to Myspace, Live Journal and Facebook. Those three keep me very busy. :)

That's odd that they are requesting so much info. I wouldn't trust it.
