Hmm... I suppose. Are there any other, dumber birds that like to turn their heads halfway around like that? Demented pigeons, maybe?Nakor wrote:C'mon, owls are more intelligent than that.

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
. One of my biggest pet peeves while I'm driving is those MORONS who drive way under the posted speed limit. SLOW drivers suck, especially when I'm trying to get to work in the morning. I leave my house about 30 minutes earlier than I have too and I'm STILL late to work because these idiots don't know how to use their gas pedal. If the speed limit says 40mph, then go 40 mph NOT 25 mph
. How about those people that cut out in front of you and then drive up a short distance, put their directional on and take forever to turn? Or those that are taking a left hand turn, that stay in the middle of the road so you can't get around them? I don't know if all driving books from the registry of motor vehicles are the same or not, but the one I used in Massachusetts said that if you are taking a left turn then you must get over as close as you can to the center divider to make such left hand turn. I don't see why people have such an issue with this.....
. People that live in states that get extremely cold that DO NOT scrape the frost off their ENTIRE window. The people I am talking about only scrape a small opening, enough for them to see what is eye level. This especially infuriates me because on Feb. 1st of 2005 I lost a wonderful friend who was killed walking across the street getting his morning paper at the pharmacy located approx. 100 yards from his house. The kid driving the work van that hit him only scraped off a narrow strip of frost, because he was running late for work and allegedly drove off because ' he didn't know' he hit someone. Please use common sense and scrape off ALL the frost from your windows !!!!!
. Tailgaters.... beware !!!! You get behind me, you better be paying attention !!!!! You piss me off, I'll give you a brake job all the way down the road and if you really piss me off you better have really good insurance because when you rearend me I'm gonna get a new car out of the deal.... guaranteed
. Let's not forget about those numbnuts driving and talking on the cell phone. I live in a city that still uses a rotary..... there are 6 different intersections all around the rotary trying to go one way. As you can imagine if you're not paying ateention, things can get very hairy and fast. I cannot tell you how many times that I have been 'cut off' by the numbscull that is too busy chatting on their cell phone instead of paying attention to the road. Pull over if you must talk on your cell..... so that you may pay ALL your attention to the road. Thank you

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
I guess nobody can understand how to read roadsigns. They either want to go 20 clicks faster, or 20 slower, than whatever is posted, but never at the same speed. I see very few people actually doing the speed limit itself.

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
I usually find it OK to go about five miles over the speed limit on any given road, ten on some roads where literally everyone goes that fast (you know the roads - main, non-highway roads that have an illogically low speed limit), but I don't think I ever go under the limit for any length of time. What's the point? You may as well get to where you're going as quickly as possible, so why go slower than that? Unless you're lost and trying to find a specific road or landmark, I just don't get it.

Eh... not worth the risk of whiplash. No amount of money is worth possibly permanent neck pain, or worse.80's fanatic wrote:Tailgaters.... beware !!!! I should be able to drive as fast as I safely can, which is about 150 mph in my car.The reason I don't drive that fast, even when I still feel totally in control of my car, is because I'm not in control of all the morons on the road, and I can't avoid them properly if I'm going that fast.
But but... when I'm driving in the 10 through West Texass on my way to Florida there isn't a single moron around to cut me off!
Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
LOL Yeah, it's nowhere near as bad to drive that fast when there's literally nobody on the road within a mile of year in either direction.Snake wrote:But but... when I'm driving in the 10 through West Texass on my way to Florida there isn't a single moron around to cut me off!

#1 - Those morally defective celphone arseholes who have to have the latest phone but can't be arsed to buy a Bluetooth to go with it...
#2 - Arseholes who don't know how to use traffic signals properly, or even at all.
#3 - Arseholes who get in the left lane driving just slow enough to bottleneck traffic, because they MIGHT have to make a left turn sometime in the next 50 miles...

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
You know what else can be really annoying?
When cars merge at full speed onto an interstate, forcing those on the right lane to slow down. If you have someone kinda tailgating, that could turn into a disaster! Just hope that no one's coming too close behind.

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
If your on a highway the cars in the right hand lane are supposed to move over in the left hand lane for cars coming on to the interstate or freeway, if possible.
Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
You mean when the right-hand lane on a highway merges directly with the incoming traffic from an onramp, right? Yeah, I hate that, too. They should let the onramp run into a dedicated right lane for a little bit, just to give people the opportunity to move to the left without rushing and nearly causing an accident. Some people refuse to slow down and let you in when you're the one coming in from the onramp in those cases. You nearly have to run off the road just to avoid them.

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
Here's the solution: Make these self-important arseholes LEARN HOW TO DRIVE!!!
THAT would go a long way to solve the problem.

Re: What are your DRIVER & DRIVING PET PEEVES?
If there were actually a way of doing that, I'd have long since invented it and become a bazillionaire. The problem is that you only have to drive properly one time to get your driver's license. If you can make the DMV examiner think you know what you're doing, you're set for life, as long as you don't do anything really stupid and get your license revoked. That's government for ya.

I don't like the tailgaters either.
I had someone flash their lights at me because they thought me going the speed limit was too slow for his/her taste. That really annoys me.

Yep!!! I find that sooo annoying AND dangerous!!
I don't mind slowing down, but sometimes you have someone coming really close behind ya, so you have to kinda 'time it' so that the one on the right will merge without you getting hit from behind.

Amen!
But then...they let DUI drivers have their driver licenses back after 2 DUIs...so I get the feeling that the law gets bent around a bit too much.
I remember that a few years back, a neighbor was stopped several times for DUI. On his third DUI arrest, they took his car and license. Well, he got his license back within a month. The law says that after the 3rd DUI, your driver's license gets taken away for a loooooooong time. He got it back within a month. His wife let him use her car and he drove for that time on a suspended license, while his lawyer was busy getting them to give him the license and car back. He never recovered the car though.
