Guardian Legend (NES)! A great game
which featured numerous game-
play elements to it from a
top/down shooter to
an overhead ad-
venture titl-
e like Z-
elda
!

The person playing is not good (or just wants to rush through it)...

Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II (NES)

And agreed, Soloist! Guardian Legend was a favorite in the NES days!

Ironsword was one of my favorite games back during the
later NES days, though Wizards and Warriors III esca-
ped me until about a year or so ago. Even so, I h-
ave yet to REALLY play it thanks to all of the
current software in my possession (laugh-
s). The artwork and game style had m-
e captivated, however, this game i-
s hard as HECK to complete due
to the awkward controls. Par-
t one I enjoyed playing ov-
er and over again, esp-
ecially since it was a
lengthy adventure,
yet one which I
had fun expe-
riencing. G-

I was in the same boat with Wizards & Warriors 1 and 2  Also never tried the 3rd until emulation was brought before me  Wasn't as good as the first two anyway, so I didn't miss anything back then :p

My word was that Legacy of the Wizard a difficult game!!!
Not only were there those incredibly upsetting puzzle-
s of block manipulating, but invisible walls, chal-
lenging enemies, a huge environment, and
each character that the player used ha-
d specific abilites which had to be
ulilized in order to progress. A-
dd to this that whenever t-
he player obtained too
many health potion-
s, poison would
appear and
you ha-
ve
a rec-
ipe for s-
wearing to b-
ecome a medici-
nal practice (laugh-
s)! I did not have the
patience to advance in t-
his game, though I did try i-
t long ago and rated it as crue-
l as the Ninja Gaiden series, Adv-
entures of Bayou Billy and Ikari War-
riors post ABBA code (laughs)! The ori-
ginal Mega Man was not an easy title eit-
her, especially the Rock character and man-
aging Mega Man's abilities back then when ga-
me codes where not easily found unless you had
a subscription to Nintendo Power, but even that w-
as later on. Getting back to the game though, I'll say:
