18 & Life ~ Skid row
Ricky was a young boy, He had a heart of stone.
Lived 9 to 5 and worked his fingers to the bone.
Just barely got out of school, came from the edge of town.
Fought like a switchblade so no one could take him down.
He had no money, oooh no good at home.
He walked the streets a soldier and he fought the world alone
And now it's
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go
Tequila in his heartbeat, His veins burned gasoline.
It kept his motor running but it never kept him clean.
They say he loved adventure, "Ricky's the wild one."
He married trouble and had a courtship with a gun.
Bang Bang Shoot 'em up, The party never ends.
You can't think of dying when the bottle's your best friend
And now it's
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go
"Accidents will happen" they all heard Ricky say
He fired his six-shot to the wind
That shot blew a child away.
(Solo)
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go
18 and life You got it
18 and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
18 and life to go

This song came out in the mid-late 70's, but most think it came out in the 80s...it was one of my early favorites that would shape the course of my musical preferences:
Surrender ~ Cheap Trick
Mother told me, yes, she told me I'd meet girls like you.
She also told me, "Stay away, you'll never know what you'll catch."
Just the other day I heard a soldier falling off some Indonesian junk that's going round.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
Father says, "Your mother's right, she's really up on things."
"Before we married, Mommy served in the WACS in the Philippines."
Now, I had heard the WACS recruited old maids for the war.
But mommy isn't one of those, I've known her all these years.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
Whatever happened to all the season's losers of the year?
Ev'ry time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
Then I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.
Away.
Away.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, but don't give yourself away
