Winter 2010/11 season is up, so we can look a--Zzzzzzz......

Okay, I'll be fair. Kimi ni Todoke 2 is in there. And there's a few in there that might be the so-terrible-they-warp-around-and-become-hilarious variety. (The dude who dies, gets rez'd as a zombie by a guy called Eucliwood Hellscythe and dropped in a world of magical girls fighting against the anti-magical-girl-system Megalo might just be that bad... or worse.) I dunno, maybe Gosick (can I please just call this Gothic?) might be good? Eh.

Good lord, man... karma's a bitch. This fall season has seven shows in it that I picked up and am enjoying at least fairly much, whereas the upcoming winter season looks like it may not even have more than one that I'll watch. Bwuh. :twitch: I never did get past about ep 3 of Kimi ni Todoke (just wasn't in the mood for shoujo stuff at the time), so that obviously rules out the second season. Everything else appears to be either generic as hell, just plain stupid, or impossible to get a good read on, with the exceptions of Mitsudomoe S2 (the first season is amazingly perverted and wrong, yet hilarious) and Beelzebub. I've read a little bit of the manga of Beelzebub and thought it was decently funny, so I'll probably give the show a shot. Beyond that, jeesh... what a craptacular lineup. :meh:

I can see... maybe... three... possibly four... five might be a stretch if I'm bored enough... series' in the Winter Season... Hmmm... -_-

Like Frog, I've got six shows that I'm following from the Fall season. Would be nice to get somewhere near that amount for Winter, but I can't see it happening.

Out of curiosity exactly what six or seven shows did you guys find worth watching this season anyway? I looked at the fall list and wasn't super impressed. Better than Winter here, to be sure, but I don't think I could've pulled seven titles of interest from it.

I'm currently following;

Fortune Arterial
Index II
Ore no Imouto
Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru
Tantei Opera
Yosuga no Sora

That being said, if you asked me how many series' were actually worth watching, and how many of the above were just there to fill space and time...

From the fall season, I've currently got:

Index II
Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector
Ore no Imouto
MM!
Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai
Hyakka Ryouran
Otome Youkai Zakuro
...and maybe also Shinryaku! Ika Musume.

That's a decent mix of action, comedy and drama, with some ecchi thrown in there just for cheap lulz (read: Hyakka Ryouran). No, none of those are über-spectacular, but Ore no Imouto and Kami nomi are pretty funny, and Index II appears to be back to real story instead of random side story type crap. Didn't bother with Fortune Arterial or Yosuga no Sora, not really in the mood for more typical dating sim-type stuff at the moment.

Hmm... I don't even recognize half of the ones you're watching. Though, anything with the words 'Super Robot Wars' in it with instantly earn my complete distaste and disinterest... :p

I expected Yosuga no Sora to be dating-sim stuff, but not quite to the point that it has turned out to be. Especially with the plot preview, I expected more of a story line than what I'm getting. Fortune Arterial was definitely a date-sim anime, and I knew that from the get go.

Meh. They keep my brain somewhat entertained for 22 minutes or so, so I can't complain too loudly.

Yeah, yeah, you mech show hater. Bite me. :p I honestly don't get that much out of most dating sim shows anymore. If you've seen one, you've seen nearly all but the very best of them, which includes Key shows and the other occasional high-quality work. The rest are just a pile of stereotypical characters and scenarios. Meh. :\ One of the nice things about Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai is that it parodies all those stereotypes found in dating sim games. The main char is a colossal dating sim otaku who's referred to online as the God of Capturing, but he accidentally signs a contract with a demon and is forced to try and "capture" actual girls instead. It's amusing to watch him try to apply the principles of gaming to real life.

Sorry, what can I say. Evangelion turned me off mech shows for life.

Oh, and in regards to your comments about Key shows... YOU TAKE THAT BACK AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!! >_____<

I think he meant that as a single phrase. :P Otherwise why would he have said Key shows and the other occasional high-quality work? :P

'Ey! That was not incorrect comma usage! Go procure some grammars, j00 5p00n3j bard. :hammer: But anyway, yes, Nakor is correct in that I was counting Key works and the other occasional quality dating sim-based show as "the best of them." It's pretty hard to produce a lousy show when you have a Key game as source material.

So you seriously allowed Eva to ruin all giant mech shows for you? That's... sad. Hasn't it been long enough that you can get over The Whiniest, Bitchiest Main Character Evar and the mountain of ridiculous wannabe psychobabble? Seriously? That's far from normal for giant mech shows.

No, it hasn't been long enough since they're still producing the nonsense and, furthermore, people are STILL ranting and raving about it! >.<

It sucked back in the 90's and it still sucks!

See, me, I was never a big fan of mech shows in the first place. So it doesn't bother me any. :P

Also, I just noticed that the girl in the picture for Is This a Zombie? is holding what appears to be a chainsaw made of magic. Magic chainsaw, dude named Eucliwood Hellscythe, and overzealous use of magic girls fighting an anti-magic girl system... I am definitely checking that out just to see if it's either (a) intentional mockery of all those genres that turns out to be hilarious, or (b) just so plain bad that it's hilarious for that reason alone.

Look, I very thoroughly agree that Eva's whole I'm-supposed-to-be-a-deep-psychoanalytical-show-but-I-totally-phail-at-it shtick sucked, but having giant mechs blow stuff up isn't what made the show suck. Hell, I'd think that with your love for blowing stuff up in general, you'd LIKE having it scaled up to include giant robot suits. Bigger weapons = bigger explosions, right? :zeeky:

I know zat. That's why I didn't try to argue the point with you. :p

Hmm... you've got a point. I will have to check that one out after all.
