NEW JERSEY (WABC) - One gas station in Monmouth County and at least three gas stations in Ocean County are now selling regular gas for $1.99 per gallon.

The most northern of them is the Sunoco on Route 33 in Neptune. The owner said he dropped to $1.99 just after 9 a.m. this morning.

He said he is able to charge $1.99 because his supplier's price dropped. He plans on keeping the price for the rest of the day.

In Toms River, Ocean County, which is just south of Monmouth, at least three gas stations are reportedly also selling $1.99 for regular.

Gives a little hope of more downturn! The lowest I've seen here is $2.19 which is a very welcome sight itself!

I filled up my tank with only 20 bucks the other day and the price was like 2.30 a gallon. Gets lower every day, the only good part of recession!

The gas prices around me are currently around $1.95 / gal in town... but it's likely around $1.85 / gal where I shop around, but the one grocery store offers a minimum discount of $.03 / gal for their customers... assuming they buy gas within 24 / 48 hours of their grocery purchases.
