(WinXP) Reassigning a drive letter

Post by KenseidenXL »

I haven't had to do this since Win3.1. Anyone know how to reassign a drive letter? I have an external that is longer usable and when I get its replacement, I want to assign it the same drive letter.

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

Right click the drive or partition and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."

Highlight the drive letter and hit "Change..." (or "Remove")

I'll try it. I'm getting an Hitachi 640GB external for $59.99 including shipping.
