WE HAVE A BLIZZARD!

Post by soloist »

Twenty three degrees F with the wind chill
factor making it feel like nine, 24 mph
gusts of wind, about 9 inches to a
foot of snow already out here,
and it's constant! Not only
that, but it's expected
to continue until a-
bout 8 to 9 am.
It's only 12 t-
wenty fiv-
e now!

T-
his m-
ay not se-
em like muc-
h, but it's a lot f-
or my area! Good th-
ing that I'm off! Time to
get some gaming in (and it
is about time... laughs). Am I
the only one getting such snow in
his area right about now? Just curiou-
s. Maybe I'll take pictures in the morning.

I'm getting hammered with about the same if not more... it's been nasty out there all night. The plows can't even keep up with it, it's so constant... streets are covered thick with mounds in some areas. If this keeps up, it's gonna be one nasty morning commute. Lucky for me, I don't work til later in the afternoon, so hopefully it'll at least have slowed down by then.

We got almost two feet, but in areas,
almost 3 were mentioned, plus so-
me cars are completed envelo-
ped in snow! I'll see if I ca-
n take pictures since I
do have to leave t-
he house again.
I just finish-
ed shove-
ling in
fro-
nt of m-
y house and
it was quite the
task with all of the
snow we got and the li-
ttle room to toss it. Then
we have plows that dump the
snow right back where we tried t-
o clean driving up and down the stre-
et (laughs). Just thawing out right now!

Grr! That should be over HERE! Give it back! >:(

Seriously thought, wow! It's almost Snowmageddon all over again. We were on the edge of the storm and only got 2-3 inches. My little plow was all fired up and ready too. :(

We don't get snow like that here (that I know of). I've seen it like that a few times where I used to live, though. I still have a few old photos such as this one (I want to say it was 2004), though this one in particular makes it look a bit worse than it really was... but not by much.

I got hammered about 1.5 weeks ago with a blizzard that shut down everything within a 50-mile radius of me (with a possible exception of in-town Sioux City).

When the county is issuing a civil emergency & the main highway that you use closes (this is the first time that I can remembering it happening)... you know it bad.

Talk about getting buried...

That's a crazy amount. It's amazing the huge winter storm that is blanketing most of the country right now. Nothing like that here though. It's going to get cold, but no snow to be seen here. :p

You are fortunate not to have received such an
accumulation, Wario... because it affected
transportation in a major way. We have
not reached a state of emergency, b-
ut we did come VERY close. That
snow is still lingering in spite
of three 40 degree days to
help melt some of it. A-
nd now we are expec-
ting another 6 inc-
hes today along
with another
helping ne-
xt week
I've h-
ear-
d!

(and I work today... two shifts)

Last week's prediction of a few inches proved
to be inaccurate since we've barely receiv-
ed a dusting (laughs), but the forecast
for tomorrow night seems MUCH m-
ore believable with a similar con-
dition read-out of the last ma-
jor dumping that I took vid-
eos of! As a precautiona-
ry measure, I just ma-
y use a vacation da-
y then if the sto-
rm really is go-
ing to be as
bad as it
seems
to b-
e!

H-
as an-
yone else
heard of a m-
ajor dumping of sn-
ow in their areas at all?

This time around, we received much less than
anticipated (once again... laughs). Not th-
at I'm complaining, though another d-
ay off from work would have bee-
n nice (laughs). We actually g-
ot about 8 inches and the
plows were ready this
time around so m-
ost of the sno-
w in the st-
reets w-
ere
already
cleaned by t-
he time I had my
camera ready (laugh-
s). Right now, the frigid
temperatures and winds are
what's annoying for most being
about 23 degrees F (feeling like 15).

I read on the national weather service site that every US state with the exception of Florida currently has snow on the ground somewhere. That's pretty unusual. Even Hawaii has snow on the ground up in the mountains. This has been a pretty harsh winter.
