knee problems

Post by Jazzmyn »

Thought it was time to check in again. I've reinjured my knee. I originally injured it last January. Part of the problem back then was a partialy torn mencius disc. I went to an orthopedic dr today and they think that the tear has gotten worse. They've put in a request with my insurance for an mri to find out for sure. If it is torn, I'm looking at knee surgury in the near future. I'll keep everyone updated on this as I find out more. Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. Right now it's hard for me to sit at the computer for long because it hurts like to bend my knee at all. I check things on here when I can.

Thanks. :) Doesn't help much that I've also been fighting a nasty cold since New Year's Eve. LOL Such a great way to start the year.

Goodness! Have you tried lemon tea with
honey (not sugar since it only adds to
the mucus and allows the cold to l-
inger even longer)? Ginger tea
(best when actual ginger ro-
ots are used) helps consi-
derably as well. Plenty
of soup or hot and
spicy beverage-
s or broths h-
elp as well.
Well, it
work-
ed:

(for me... just last week!)

I go in on Tuesday for an mri and should have the results by next friday. Hopelly I'll find out then if I need surgery or not. A little worried about that option.

Just waiting for the dr's office to call me back with the results. At this point I'm almost hoping for the surgery. lol At least then the problem would be fixed. ;) I'll post later when I know more.

Found out that my dr & his nurse are out of the office today. Have to wait till Monday now for the results. :spankin: :duh:

Got my mri results yesterday. Turns out the problem is not with the menicis disc after all. My kneecap has shifted slightly and is rubbing against the ligament. I go in next week to dicuss treatment options.

Went back to the dr today and went over the mri results. Learned some interesting things. Like the fact that my femur bone is not formed properly were it fits into the knee. Interesting that they never noticed that on an x-ray before. Said I'm at a disadvantage right there when it comes to knee problems. lol I've also got some arthritis forming. Anyways, for now I'm wearing a brace that will help shift mt knee cap back into place. I go back in 6 weeks for a follow-up to see how things are doing.

Hopefully the brace puts things back in place and there will be no need for more invasive type treatment... :thumb:
