Kickstarter -- Indie Launching Ground (Linkage)

Linkage: http://www.kickstarter.com

I read up about Kickstarter in Wired & checked out their site. It's pretty interesting deal.

People submit their projects on the site that they need funding. Users of the site review the project proposals to see if there's anything interesting that they would like to fund & place pledges. Most projects usually include reward incentives for pledging at a certain level.

If the project receives all the funds they're asking for before their deadline, the project is green-lit & all the backers pay their pledges. The Project Manager then fulfill their rewards accordingly.

If the project fails to receive all the funds they're asking for before their deadline, the project fails & the backers pay nothing.

The site utilizes Amazon's Payments to process pledges, as it's the only option that allows their "all or nothing" payment philosophy.

One project that I've actually backed (& has been green-lit around 9:30 AM CT today... at time of post) are Brimstone Playing cards ( http://kck.st/iQsgUb ), which are custom-made, limited edition playing cards. They sport a "demonic" theme with a inverse color scheme. See the link for more details & the pictures of the cards.

I put up $10 myself. In exchange, I get 2 decks shipped when they're printed... Since they're going on sale for $8.99 / deck (up to $16.99 in one online shop), I'm saving ~$8 (+ shipping) by backing it.

There are plenty of other projects there that you may be interested in checking out, so check the site out & possibly back a project yourself!
