>I am involved in basset hound rescue, and my Lady Bea has been nominated for the position of Purple Princess for ABC Basset Rescue's event, Purplewaddle 2002 on Saturday May 11th.<

>The way the winner is going tobe chosen is via voting. Lady Bea is a 9-10 year old rescued basset hound. She was a stray from the streets of NYC and pulled from the shelter on what was to be the last day of her life. They were going to put her down as she was considered "too old" She walked into my house and took over my heart, my home and my couch pillows. In less than a week she became our "foster failure". Besides overcoming the obstactle of finding a new home, especially at her age, last May she was diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer. She underwent surgery to have the tumor removed, and April marks her 11th cancer free month. <

>Bea not only survived the streets of NYC, but is a cancer survivor as well. We think she deserves this honor. If she is selected as Princess, May 11th, the day she would be crowned, is almost a year to date of her initial cancer diagnosis. What a great way that would be to cele
