Someone get me a boat. The Great York County Flood of 2011

Thanks, Tropical Storm Lee. Why couldn't you send your love to Texas, who needs the rain?

I just got back from guiding my Mom around washed out and closed roads to get home. It's a mess. So far, my property is ok. My creek did not get above the bridge, but we still have more to go. It's going to be a fun ride to work tonight.

I had to call off work due to my roads being shut down because of flooding, unstable bridges, and landslides. The fire police made me come back home so I hope my work doesn't hold this against me. I am trapped in the Valley! A Valley that has declared a disaster emergency! :twitch:

This is insane. My power keeps going on and off. It's going to be a rough night.

I still have a driveway bridge, but I think it is damaged. It is definitely clogged up with debris. Right now, there are trash cans and what looks like large blue water barrels banging all around. The road is completely underwater. A township truck went up awhile ago and the water was to the top of his tires. This isn't supposed to stop until after 7 a.m.

Thankfully, the water isn't up to the house yet, but I am not sure about my neighbors. I hope they are ok. I'll walk up when it's light and check on them. Oddly, this will be the first time I've met them (they just moved in a few months ago.)

Yiiiiiiikes... I'm glad none of that came up my way! I'm in an area that tends to flood, so something like that would turn my street to a pond

One of my neighbors died during the flood. He was rushing down to pump out the water that was coming into the house when he fell, injuring his head and neck. He was 70 years old. :( Goodbye Mr. Pete. :rose2:

I had large puddles in my garage and den where it leaked in between the wall and floor. I still have a bridge, but need to patch some small, washed out holes around the sides. The whole valley smells like a wet dog. :irked:

...And this is why I have no desire to live in a valley someday. I'd prefer not to be where all the water goes when it rains. :o
