Hell, that first video was worth watching if for no other reason than to see the guy on the left with his crazy huge sunburst hair. :looney:  Anyway, I wonder if the MMD animation in that was synced using a Kinect. If so, then the motion and facial recognition quality is pretty dang good. In any case, we are now one step closer to turning reality into incredibly silly anime. :p

I like the random Chibiterasu in the second one, btw. MMD is the lulz.

As for the cat videos, A) I have no idea how the first one adhered to the wall like that, and B) I can't even imagine how long it took the dude to train the second one like that. My cats are literally not trained whatsoever beyond using the litterbox, and I think if I tried to teach them anything else, they'd probably laugh at me.

According to what I found out on Reddit, it is possible to get a hacked Kinect to do this sort of thing, but apparently that was not the case (and could not have been the case) on this video. The consensus was (1) the video has been around for a while, and is from before it could be done with a Kinect, and (2) the Kinect cannot do those facial expressions, could not handle people standing/sitting in front of one another, and would have other difficulties with fine movements.

Seems this was most likely edited frame-by-frame in a freeware program called MikuMikuDance.

Wow! Now that was umm, indeed
random (laughs)! They even go-
t all of the gestures accurat-
ely reproduced not to m-
ention (at least in the
case of the kid wit-
h the hair) appe-
rance (laughs).
In terms of
the cat,
my M-
om
had a
cat like t-
hat before I
was born. She t-
old us before she p-
assed that she owned a
cat that enraged her one t-
ime so she told it "get out of h-
ere" and the cat left the room. She
then told the cat to return and the cat
did. She tried a few other commands whic-
h the cat recognized as well after she guestures
the verbal commands. My Dad was amazed to see it.

The cat understood:

-Roll over left and right
-Sit (was taught this)
-Get out
-Come back
-Jump (was taught this)

Too bad video cam-

I know this was done using MikuMikuDance, that's why I mentioned it (MMD) in the first place. :p The reason I brought up the Kinect is because the Wiki page for MMD said that a Kinect can be used for motion capturing. I guess they just meant for large-scale motions, not for fine movements like facial expressions. :\
