My late cat Butterscotch had dog-like behaviors like those, like asking to go outside (actually pesting me to go out) & to go for walks (typically around the neighborhood, about a block from home).

He actually got some "Dog Cred" by taking on the neighbor's dog that occasionally ran loose (in a total disregard to the local leash law) & won with a quick swipe to their nose (as he wasn't declawed). That dog gave a wide birth to our yard after that... which did provide an interesting (& funny) occurrence where the dog was "stuck" in the road while trying to get home.

The two neighbor dogs (what were well behaved & were complying with the leash law) & my cat kind of ganged up in the respective yards to limit the available route to just the alley & a semi was heading that way (being a primary town road). The Semi slowed down to a stop because of the perplexing behavior.

My word! That's some story, TStodden! It's a shame
that such events couldn't be recorded, because
I'm sure that would have been some sight t-
o see. Butterscotch was quite the troop-
er... and a gutsy one at that. Our cu-
rrent cat Harry Potter (my sister n-
amed him) is VERY mischievous
and can only be petted on the
first try. After that, he att-
empts to swipe at your h-
and thinking it's play t-
ime (laughs). He's q-
uite odd in that re-
gard. He also lie-
s on his back a
remain still f-
or minutes
at a tim-
e on o-
casi-
on.
