My new hobby

IDK how I manage to get into expensive hobbies but I recently started getting ready for the warm weather so I can start target shooting again.
I bought 2 different caliber handguns. 1 is a 9mm and the other is a 45. I have them locked in a safe next to my bed for easy access for me. I can't wait to go and shoot of a few hundred rounds.

I am also going to buy a 22 rifle so that I can show the kids how to use a gun safely. I feel that if I have them in the house, they need to be shown how to use one the right way.My daughter can probably handle my 9mm,but I am also having her start on the 22 rifle.

I never really put much thought into getting another gun since the kids mom was always accusing me of making threats towards her, which luckily I knew the cops who would show up at my door.I eventually sold the 3 I had and never renewed my permit. That was about 15 years ago. I have been waiting for the right time to buy and a friend opened up a gun store last year so I get a bit of a discount on my ammo and guns.I only want 1 or 2 more and then I will be satisfied. Wanting either a 357 or 44 magnum and a small framed 380 or 9mm that I can carry in my pocket out of site. I did apply for my concealed weapons permit and waiting on it to come so that I can carry one with me. The world has gone to hell and I am not getting caught up in a situation where I can't get out of. I am wanting the smaller framed gun to carry at work so that no one knows I have it since it is against their policy. Last weekend I got attacked by someone 3x my size and had no way to defend myself,I am not doing it again.I will defend myself.

Laughs! I guess cheaper hobbies probably aren't as interesting for you.
In my area, we don't own the property where we live, so defend-
ing ones property isn't legal (even if the home is paid for), h-
owever, if I understand correctly, if you own the proper-
ty where you live, it's your right to defend it via fire-
arms (provided you have a permit). Over here, it
is different. That .45 of yours looks crisp! I'd
be afraid to use it for fear of tainting th-
e clean appearance (laughs). I'm sorr-
y to learn of the attack that you
have endured and I hope tha-
t you don't encounter suc-
h a situation like this a-
gain... especially no-
w with your little
friend. Let's h-

I don't own either of those guns now.I went with more compact guns to carry. I resold those for what I paid for them and got a better deal on 2 others I liked more and felt better. I don't have a .45 now but I do have a .40 and a 9mm. I shot both on Sunday and the kick of those compact guns is crazy, but felt good to be able to shoot again after 20 years of not shooting.I need to practice,I am a bad shot at 10 yards lol

Well, I've still have yet to fire
a single gun, so you can't
be as bad as I am as
of this very mo-
ment (laug-

I picked up a full size 45 cal and that thing is accurate beyond belief. I was hitting targets 40 feet away, even with the kick it has,I was doing good patterns on the target. To big to carry so it's the one I take and fire at the range. It got a lot of looks from others but I had fun. It was pretty cheap compared to other higher end models to buy.

My goodness! I know the kids couldn't
use it. The kick alone would se-
nd them to the ground in
an instant (laughs)!
A steady hand
you have,
huh?

Here's a pic pf the gun I purchased some time ago. I have shot it several times and really do like this one. I had some major problems with the 2 compact guns I had and didn't feel safe carrying them. So this is the only one I have at the moment. It's a Ruger SR45.Big gun and big to carry but never fails to fire and is dead on accurate.I will be buying the g/f the 9mm version of this when the money is there to do so. She can't go shoot at the moment anyways. It will be next year before she can if things work out right.

What problems did you have with the compacts? Was jamming an
issue? I hope they didn't set off without warning. The Ruger
looks good. I'm assuming that the 9mm version of this
Ruger is smaller and easier to manage? This one
appears to have a bit of bulk, but I guess t-
hat depends on the size of your hands.
It wouldn't be a problem for me I
don't think, though my hands
are not too big, but I thi-
nk control shouldn't
be an issue. Hav-
e you had an-
y problem-
s with t-
he Ru-
ger?

I've shot about 500 rounds through it and no problems at all.Very accurate. It didn't kick like a 45 should, more like a 9mm kick since it is a full frame gun.
I was offered a 9mm Sig Sauer 2022 in trade for the Ruger and and I couldn't pass it up.A $50 for a $600 gun that is smaller and cheaper to shoot. I did shoot the Sig in the basement and it seems to be a very easy gun to shoot. Not a lot of kick to it. Was hard to trade until I shot the Sig and I was sold. Smaller to carry and conceal for me which is what I needed. I will get another Ruger SR45 eventually for target and home defense use but the sig just won me over.

That must be some basement (laughs)! I thought if anything
you'd prefer less of a kick... but then again, the feel of
such a recoil helps the true power of the firearm t-
o be felt, so in the regard I see what you mea-
n (answering my own inquiries? What's nex-
ts... laughs). That seemed like quite t-
he deal! Smaller in size, a good pr-
ice and with the kick you'd pre-
fer? Smells good (laughs)! H-
ow is the grip? Was it co-
mfortable to hold co-
mpared to the Ru-
ger at all? Asid-
e from the l-
ack of a p-
owerfu-
l kic-
k,
the
Ruger
looks to
be comfor-
table to hold.

(to me anyway...)

I finally got to the range with the Sig and my gosh I really like this gun more then I did when I used the crawl space as a target shooting area.(neighbors weren't to thrilled, they figured me out :) )
It's just as accurate if not more accurate then the Ruger SR45 is.I still have visitation rights with the 45,I can borrow it and shoot it whenever I want as long as it comes back clean.
The grip on the Sig is much better. It really didn't pack to much of a punch and I was able to hit what I was aiming for 75% of the time. I had a large group of friends with me so I got to shoot a few different guns. One I shot that I was considering on buying was a Ruger SR9c. Big flop. Not accurate and way to much kick and it's just a tad bigger then my Sig is. That bummed me out,I was going to buy one for myself. I have been carrying the Sig with me everyday to get used to a smaller framed gun and I barely notice it until I put the seat belt on in the car and the hammer is scraping up against me.
I went window shopping yesterday and seen a Kimber 9mm I want, but for $1300,I will have to pass. Maybe it will be my Tax time 1 time purchase. Depends on what I get back when the time comes. I do have a picture of it posted below.
I am just impressed with this Sig and if I don't get the Kimber at Tax Time I have a few other options that are cheaper that I can go with and be happy.
I have been looking at a Baby Desert Eagle 9mm for about 3-4 months and it is a full frame all metal gun unlike the Sig I own and the Kimber below. It's heavy so it would not be one I would carry but would target shoot with.I did talk my friend into buying a Sig P250 and he is happy I talked him into it. The quality is great and they feel nice when shooting.

Ammo is finally becoming easy to find again and cheap. As you can see in the picture,I have some and am ready for a few hours at the range.I have 350 rounds just waiting to be fired off. The Perfecta is the new stuff I tried out. It's $15 for 50 rounds, which is cheap considering what prices of higher end ammo is. I bought 200 rounds at first go and cleaned my gun and it was not dirty.I was expecting it to be a very dirty shot since it was cheap.I have since stocked up on it. The Remington I have 100 rounds of it and 250 of the cheaper stuff.I am going to try and sneak off to the range today and shoot off the Remington and 100 rounds of the Perfecta.I only have 1 magazine for my Sig,waiting on Sig to send mine. The Fed Ex driver either put it at the wrong house or it got stolen off my parents porch before I got there. They were not home to accept it.$60 for 1 magazine is not something I can overlook.I planned to buy more but will use a different company to order from.
So I bored you to death with my rant so here are the pictures. 1st is my Sig and the 2nd is the Kimber I really like. I held it and it felt comfy in my hand.Downside is it's $1300 and kinda smallFor $1300 I can get the Baby Desert Eagle and Ruger SR45 and money left for holsters and ammo.Something to really think about.

Forgot to mention, the price I mentioned above is $500 not $50. Just to clear that up.

Went to the range today and shot a few hundred rounds.I put up a few smaller targets and a boar.I am doing better at shooting and hitting close to what I am aiming for. I had a friend with me so we both shot up the boar. The lady at the range gave us a blood pack and we taped it to the back of the boards head and I hit it and splattered it everywhere. Had a great time. I shot 200 through my gun and shot a small 32 derringer a few times. A friend shot 100 through his Sig 9mm. Going again on Sunday.Still have 150 rounds left.
