She got accepted to the college she really wanted to go to. She is working ahead of time and won't be attending until next year but she wanted to make sure she got accepted and has everything taken care of so when it is time to go she is all set. She is very excited about getting accepted and didn't have a back up plan if she didn't get in. We all kinda knew she would get in since she is a high honor student. She could of graduated early this year but she got picked to be in a special med careers class and if she passes the class and the state test, she will be a certified EMT out of high school.
She keeps me busy but it is so worth it to see her happy and doing something with her life. I have always told her that she needed to get into a field where there will always be a need for it and so she picked nursing. It's a 2 year course but one of her scholarships make it to where she has to be in college for 4 years. She isn't sure if she is going to stay at the college the extra 2 years and get a higher degree as an RN or come back home and get her vet tech degree from the community college.Either way,she will have a good job and not struggle like I do paying bills. That was my goal with her and she done it and made me very proud of her.She could of easily became a problem child after her mom walked away, but she put all her focus on school and her hard work has paid off.
Her week goes like this. Mon and Tues she volunteers at the hospital after school from 4-7.This will last all through school and summer and she plans to keep doing it until she leaves for college. Wed she has a break until Big Brother Big Sister starts at school and that will be every other Wed. Thurs-Sun she got hired at the animal shelter she was a volunteer at for almost 2 years. She didn't want to really take the job but the employees there begged her to fill out the application so she did and got hired. She keeps herself busy and after she comes home she has homework to do.It's not as bad as last year where she was doing 3-4 hours a night of homework. She was smart enough to get the hard classes out of the way her Junior year so she could focus more on her classes that help with her career. She has college credits already from the classes she took last year.
I am happy she done all the hard work and showed her mom and that side of the family that I was capable of not only raising them, but getting her into college and in a career that pays well. It is my goal to see that both of my kids get their education and in a field that there will always be a need for so that they have job security. I didn't have parents who cared and I am not going to raise my kids in that way.We might now have much, but we are happy and they will do good in life. That's all I ever asked for from them.
