A friend of mine works with both companies directly. ANd there's gonna be a lot of jobs lost in this merge. Hewlett Packard is big enough as it is. But the economy asks for merging. <i></i>

HP & Compaq are both suffering the same sort of thing. Both make good products, but can't compete with the advertisements and products of other companies enough. Fusing may help them out a lot. <i></i>

It seems that HP is "king of the hill" when it comes to printers, and Compaq does fairly well in manufacturing PC's, so the merger may be good and the overall quality of their products should be even better. <i></i>
