Coffee Talk - What kind of coffee do you like?

Post by Diabolique »

Since we have quite a few coffee lovers around here, I figured it'd be kind of fun to have a little 'coffee talk' to find out about everyone's personal taste when it comes to coffee! :spin:

To me, nothing beats a freshly brewed latte, followed by a cold Diet 7up!! I got hooked on flavored coffees - Raspberry chocolate - Hawaiian Hazelnut -Pumpkin Spice - but I also enjoy French Roast. I am a bit picky about the type I get. One brand I won't drink is Folgers. Tastes blah! :yucky:

I usually buy beans and keep them in the fridge...then grind what I need and keep the rest refrigerated. Nothing beats the aroma of fresh coffee brewing! Ahhh! Image

I do drink mine in the form of a latte. Almost never have it black, although I had Spresso while in Italy and loved it every time.

Do you guys like Starbucks? I find their flavor to be a bit odd for my taste...almost has a 'burnt' flavor to it. Same with Caribou Coffee...

So...what do you drink? Instant coffee? Are you really picky about your beans or you just go for the plain ole Folgers?

I love espresso. When I go to my Mom's we normally have an espresso break in the afternoon (she has an espresso machine). I also love lattes, capaccino (sp) and during the summer I love iced coffee. Hazelnut, Irish cream and mocha are my favorite flavors. :biglick:

Molly - around Christmas, Hersheys has some raspberry chocolate cream filled chocolate chips. They are limited edition, so they are only sold around Christmas.

Last December I bought those and would drop a few every time I made a hazelnut latte.

OMG that was unbelievably TASTY! Mmmmmm..... :biglick:

I don't care much for Iced Coffee though, although I could drink it ok, but it just doesn't seem as appealing when cold.

I've had Japanese iced coffee and that was pretty good, but cold coffee wouldn't be my top pick though.

And of course da Queen got me hooked on Raspberry Choco lattes :dgrin: :biglick:

Call me old fashioned but I prefer a Straight up, old fashioned cup of Java. Never really cared for the whole Espresso thing.

Since we are on the subject, here are some funny ones

You Know You're Addicted To Coffee When... :brow:

- The red lines in your eyes spell out your favorite flavors.
- Your jitters register on the Richter's Scale.
- You tattooed coffee beans onto every square inch of your body.
- All of your coffee mugs are permanently stained brown.
- You get withdrawal pains if you don't drink that last drop.
- You have a cup of coffee for breakfast... along with a bowl of coffee beans.
- You consider having surgery to permanently attach your coffee mug to your hand.
- You connect an IV from your coffee mug to your arm.
- People can smell your collection of Columbian coffee blends from twenty miles away.
- You find 3 A.M. to be the perfect time for another cup of Joe.
- You have an automatic withdrawal set up from your bank account to Starbuck's.
- You bypass the coffee pot and just stick your head directly under the coffee maker.
- The last time you slept was during the last Ice Age.
- You consider moving to a Columbian coffee farm.
- You replace the pictures of your family with pictures of your favorite blends.
- Simply smelling all the coffee on your breath is enough to give someone enough caffeine for a week.
- Your growth wasn't just stunted, it was reversed.
- You haven't even blinked in weeks.
- You leave your wife/husband on the kitchen counter and sleep with your coffee maker.
- You claim your coffee maker is your only child.
- You and your coffee maker are about to celebrate your 20th wedding anniversary.
- The insurance on your coffee maker is more than the insurance on your car and home combined.
- You begin living in the coffee section of the grocery store.
- You've built up such a resistance to hot liquids that you can sip lava.
- You can scent a coffee bean from 50 miles away.
- You have more caffeine in your system than Fort Knox has gold.
- You own a lifetime subscription to Coffee Bean Quarterly.
- Folgers made you their official mascot.
- Starbuck's put a picture of you on their logo.
- Juan Valdez named his donkey after you.

Define 'old fashion' though...:poke: such as...brand? Ground? Beans? Colombian? What do you usually buy?

I wonder if they still have these at Starbucks, but last summer I was hooked on Green Tea Frappes. They're not coffee, but they were so cool. I also loved their Punpkin Spice Lattes around Thanksgiving. :biglick:

I think it was Jazzy who mentioned that Starbucks had an awesome Pumpkin Spice Latte. I'll have to go sample one next Thanksgiving!

Unless they sell them year round? Do you know?

I don't know, because I normally don't go to Starbucks (even though there is one in walking distance near me). I only go occasionally or if I'm with my aunt and my Mom and we're up where my aunt lives we will stop at the Starbucks near her.

The pumpkin lattes are seasonal.

My favorites are raspberry mochas, peppermint mochas, and java chip frappachinos. :)

Out especially for this summer: I highly recommend the banana coconut frappachino. That is sooooooo good. :)

I almost never touch the stuff. I'm probably the one person in America over 18 who has never set foot in a Starbucks. I prefer tea.
