Are you the type that prefers to get the money to get what you want or do you prefer to be given an actual gift.

I am sure you all appreciate everything that is given to you regardless, but IF you had to pick ONE, which one would you pick?

A gift or a gift certificate?

Depends on the gift giver... for most in general, I'll just take money since I know I'm hard to shop for and it makes it easier for all Though when it comes to my hunny, I loooooooooove da gifts I get And sometimes get the gift card in addition anyway, so I get da whole cake and eat it too! :lol:

I agree with Roem, it all depends on the person. I love getting gifts, but sometimes I enjoy getting gift cards/gift certificates because I can choose what I want to get. Wish I had a love to give gifts too, because receiving something from someone you love says how much they love you, because they put the time into finding things you appreciate. Oh someday. *sigh*

Gimme a gift card. Let me get what I want.

I kinda like gift cards and actually using them when I know
what I want to get. The shopping becomes part of the gift.

While it would usually depend on the giver... I'd have to go with the gift cards over gifts as well, considering the track record of gifts on the one side of my family...

Just get me a gift certificate or gift card. Why be complicated? lol

I like recieving gifts, but at times I'd rather have a gift card so I can get whatever I want. I'm really not that fussy though, I'm the type of person who would rather give a present than recieve a present. It makes me happy to see someone else enjoy the gift I picked out for them

I never really cared one way or the other to be honest. Gift certificates require a bit more effort, and are a bit less personal or interesting to unwrap, but come with more options.

What are really the best gifts though are things you'd enjoy having, but wouldn't actually buy for yourself, and those usually are things you wouldn't buy with a gift certificate either.

I enjoy both! I think both have their advantages!

I have gotten some really weird presents from my family over the years. I hate getting rid of them so I carry them around for years.Last year when we moved I got rid of a bunch of stuff I had been saving,lol. So I wish i could tell my family Giftcards Please,lol

Hey...why not? After all, this one time I attended a wedding where the bride and groom told everyone that they didn't want wedding gifts and wanted money instead.

So...it should be a piece of cake to ask your family for Giftcards.

Now...when it involves acquaintances & friends like in the case of this one couple, I think turning down wedding gifts and asking for money is a bit rude though. Wouldn't you agree? I remember discussing this with my hairstylist and she also agreed that it was a rather rude.

I'm pretty specific with my gifts, but I tend to get gift cards anyway.

I like gifts... much more thoughtful and personal. I like knowing someone thought of me when they picked out this specific item... Well usually nayway.

Gift cards are the way to go for me. I would expect an actual gift from my hubby but otherwise gift cards. I have recieved gifts that are so bad that I rewrapped them and given them to others... Pretty bad but they liked it... no names or positions given in this matter
