Van Halen Reunion Tour

Post by Jazzmyn »

David Lee Roth back as Van Halen singer Sat Feb 3, 7:46 AM ET

The rumors were true. Van Halen will reunite with original singer David Lee Roth for a summer tour of North America.

"I am very excited to get back to the core of what made Van Halen," guitarist Eddie Van Halen said in a statement posted Friday on the band's Web site announcing a 40 city tour. No specific dates have been named.

It will be the first time that Roth performs live with the band since 1984, when he was replaced by Sammy Hagar. A brief reunion with Roth in 1996 resulted in two new songs but no tour.

Original bassist Michael Anthony will not be a part of the reunion. Late last year he was replaced by Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang.

On March 12 Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York.

Naw they don't need money. I wouldn't go see a Van halen reunon with David Lee Roth and Eddie Van halen. Eddie is a f*ckhead for the way he treated Michael Anthony. Give me Sammy Hagar any day.

Like them or not David Lee Roth and Eddie were Van Halen. Sammy just didn't fit well and ruined him and Van Halen. Think about it, when was their best success? When Sammy was at his best alone and Van Halen peeked when Diamond Dave was a member.

No...Gary Cherone nearly ruined Van Halen! Sammy was decent, but he was no Roth.

I gotta agree with Chooch. Any reunion with DLR will not include Michael Anthony who is probably going to record an album with Sammy Hagar. I saw VH with Sammy twice on their first 2 tours together and they kicked some major ass. For some reason they didn't capture that on their albums. Here's some food for thought, has anyone heard DLR sing lately? He sounds like crap (in my opinion), while Sammy still sounds great (again, my opinion). As far as success goes, VH had a great deal of success both in terms of album sales and concert tickets until Sammy left. To me VH was great with either DLR or Sammy singing, they are both very different singers is all. Eddie said when Sammy joined that they were going for a more Journey-esque type of sound which they achieved. That wasn't simply because Sammy joined, it would have happened no matter who the singer was.

I told you guys it would happen. From all I've seen, looks like it's going to be a one time thing...meaning: this will most liukely be the only time they "reunite" with Diamond Dave. It's good for the fans that this is happening, they suffer the most when things dont go well with bands who refuse to reunite. Just a shame they wont be coming to Vegas.

I heard a few bootlegs with Roth singing.Someone give him a gun please! You can't even call it that.
Music changes often.Just because at one time a band maybe popular,10 years later, even with the same members may not be as popular.Alot of the 80's groups are starting to come back together but most will again faiol because that is not the type of music taht is in.It's very limited right now and there are way to many one hit wonders in the music business and thus is why it is collapsing so fast and hard. It's no longer about the music anymore or how creative it is its all about the money.
