Just curious, how many MP3's you got on your computer?
I did a count on mine: 1,642 MP3's and growing.

1,901 for me... and of course always growing, just slower these days. Most of what I want, I have, so from here it's just picking out whatever I hear and like enough to add to the collection

On the entire computer? Searching........ 10712! o_o Most of those must be from games and such.
So, I narrow the search to just the My Music folder and get 3991. o_o Way more than expected. I did just get a few DVDs loaded with anime music (mostly bg stuff) from a friend, but even so, I also wiped off everything that only my sister had interest in as she has them all on her own system now (a good chunk of music).

I have 2,860 mp3s on my computer. All on my iTunes playlist. Don't need to listen to the radio.

Start > Search > All files and folders > *.mp3
Do a search of the entire computer, all drives. Then do a search of just the folder/folders where you keep your music for listening to (so you don't pick up stuff from games, etc.)

I know...actually, there are only a few hundred mp3's on my hard drives (no wonder after toasting two of then within a few weeks). The rest of them are sitting on my shelves, stored on CD-Rs and DVD-Rs...

That's what I should do! My desktop doesn't have a CD Burner though, neither does the Laptop, But I could transfer all my MP3's to the laptop via home network, take them to my parent's transfer them to their computer via their network, and burn them with my mom's computer (It has a CD/DVD Burner).

You may want to think about an external HD instead of writable discs...the prices for those devices had fallen a lot, and they are much more useful than handling dozens of discs. Plus, you might be saved from the big CD data eater - I have to learn recently that some of my oldest (about 7 years) CD-R are defective although I had kept them in cases, which is due to the rather poor quality of the media.
Maybe you should even consider one of those multimedia HDs (e.g. the Trekstor MovieStation maxi t.u). Okay, these babes are more expensive than usual external HDs, but you have convenient access to your sounds and movies without the need to boot up the computer.

I don't do MP3s.Alot of quality is lost when you compress the files.
I encode everything into flac. Not as big as a wav but not as small as an mp3.
Quality is just as good as the actual recording.I guess I am just picky about how I listen to music.
The only time I use MP3's is when I play drums and only because the MP3 player doesn't support the flac file format and on my phone, which is ok cause the sound quality is gonna suck anyways.
