New Nightmare is aptly named. It's new in a sense that it's just about a complete spinoff of the
actual Nightmare series. Instead of being set on a fictional street in a fictional town, it's set into
the
real life of Heather Langenkamp of the original nightmare. I guess it kinda fits in after the last of
the
Nightmare movies were made. All of the films somehow attracted a demon entity, that when the
nightmare movies finished, assumed the role and essence of Freddy Krueger. It brought what was
once a fictional movie character into the real world.
Just a couple deaths... Heather's husband Chase Porter gets gutted while driving home and
Heather's friend Julie gets the old "Skin the cat" routine that was done to the "Tina
Grey" character
of the original nightmare. Then he's defeated when trapped and burned away in a boiler room... I
guess it's in a nightmare. Hard to tell what's what in this movie, but unlike part 2, they pulled it
off
well enough for it to not even matter.
That's about it... not much to really get into... the best part of the movie is just the weird twist
to it...
it's definitely got that creepy feel to it as did the original nightmare. Some say it should've been
part
2. From a horror purist standpoint, that would've been a great idea. But I like cheesy horror too, so
it's all good.
